Design and Consultancy for Porto Montenegro Marina Resort
Contracted by RHE Studio
Aquascapes Managing Director, Sean Connelly, appointed as a design consultant for the construction of a new 215ft infinity pool as part of a £518 million new marina resort in the millionaire’s playground of Porto Montenegro. The pool is built over what was once a submarine dry dock and suspended out over the Adriatic Sea.
Aquascapes were commissioned as part of a British led design consultancy team reporting to Mace construction as the main contractor, we liaised & consulted with the appointed engineers and architects to make sure the aesthetic look they were trying to achieve blended seamlessly with the technical functionality required to run a pool of this nature.
Initially we were appointed as pool consultant to provide a full design specification and technical drawings for the pool, filtration systems, hydraulic services, heating and chemical dosing plant.
However, our involvement soon developed into a full project management & supervisory role as this became a fast track project due to one of the main investors Nathan Rothschild choosing the launch of the venue to coincide with his 40th Birthday Party.
This project is one of the most prestigious and largest pools to be built in Europe (larger than an Olympic pool and retains over 1000 tonne of water) and has achieved National press coverage in both the Tabloid and Broadsheets.
In 2012 Aquascapes were awarded “Commercial Pool of the Year” by the trade, beating off stiff completion by the Architects Zaha Hadid for the London Aquatics Centre, home of the 2012 Olympic Pool.
